Wallsend Library Reading Tables

Newcastle City Council has opened its newest public library at Wallsend, the first in more than thirty years. Designed by Brewster Hjorth, it's a lovely spacious light filled building. Council devotes a percentage of each new building's budget to public art and commissioned Pinkerton to create two reading tables to be placed in the reading zones on the new library. We provided one large oak table and a further two spot- ted gum tables which could be joined together or separated for flexibility of use. All tables featured decorative inlays.
