ARM Tour to Ntaria

Stu spent the week just past in Ntaria, west of Alice Springs, for his second "Athletes as Role Models" Tour. Run by NASCA, ARM Tours take 4-5 retired sports persons to a remote communities to help educate kids about leading a healthy lifestyle. The athletes spend time during the day helping school teachers, much like teachers aides, and then the afternoons playing sport with the kids.

However Stu has spent both trips showing the kids how to make simple furniture. The first tour saw them make some picnic tables using basic tools. Since then a brand new wood and metal working shed has been kitted out with a bunch of machines and tools including lathes, bandsaws, drill presses, drop saws, work benches and plenty of safety gear (of course).

Stu, Dave and the Ntaria kids made some new bench seats to complement the picnic tables which are still going strong.

ARM Tours always include some hikes for all the athletes and support people involved, including a day trip to Palm Valley.

Big thanks to Georgina Nash for organising another great tour and to Blake Borgia (Basetball), Celeste Carnegie (Netball), Hannah Davis (Kayaking), Chloe (a recipient of NASCA programs in the past) and Brendon Levon (doco film maker) for making the Ntaria experience so much fun.

Inlay Wardrobe

This project's lovely clients have a fantastic mid century house that features a geometric motif throughout in the original features. After years of living with clothes racks they decided to solve their wardrobe dilemmas with a stand alone piece. Stu referenced the 1930s motif with a silver ash and bluegum inlay in the solid sapele unit.
