Design + Workshops and Talks at Pinkerton on September 7

We have a bunch of things happening in our warehouse as part of Newcastle's inaugural Design +

This event showcases the best in local design with over 30 businesses having a massive open day on September 7 from 10am-4pm. Everything is free but you do have to register if you want to participate. We recommend pre-registration at rather than having to queue on the day.


10am - Tools materials and skills for succesful upholstery projects with Anna Dunbar
11am - Annie Sloan Chalk Paint workshops with Sam from Apple Cart Vintage
12pm - Wannabe Architects: Model Making 101 with Steel Olney from CKDS and Daniel Bush from SDA
1:30pm - Screen printing workshop with Micky Pinkerton
2:30pm - Open Classroom with the current class of Pinkerton wood school students


11:30am -  What's under the bonnet of Your chair? Getting beneath the surface of Upholstery with Anna Dunbar
12pm -  Small Space: quality not quantity. A look at an award-winning residential project in Cooks Hill with James Clarence from Space Design Architecture
12:30 - Plus Pods: the story of the student design comp for the food pods at Design + with Jodie Duddington 
1pm - Open Space: architectural interventions with Stu Campbell of CKDS
1:30pm - Hero furniture for the material girl: styling solutions to let your furniture create the story with Joni-Amelia Trevaskis from DWP Suters
2pm - Inner Space: a look at some of Derive’s recent interiors projects in Newcastle with Jason Elsley
2:30pm - Renew Newcastle with Marni Jackson
3pm - Outer Space: Site planning strategies of 5 or 6 projects focusing on the different courtyards/outdoor areas created with Shane Blue of Bourne Blue Architecture

4pm - Monkerai Table 
Join us for a glass of wine as we launch our latest table design, the Monkerai.

1. Australian Sustainable Timbers 
James Felton Taylor and Annabel Kater will be on hand to show you some of their sustainably forested timber from the Hunter Valley 

2. Ben Cheverton Stone
Ben will be constructing a recycled stone wall in the warehouse
